Public Administration Is Like A Flower

And The Athenian Oath Its Stem


Like my professional colleagues, I am better suited for some activities than others. Here, I have summarized my administrative background.

I served as the assistant city manager for Montrose, Colorado where my duties included directing economic and organizational development.


Some projects I was involved with include Montrose becoming an All-America City and being selected as one of five cities to be a USDA “Cool and Connected” gigabit city. Other successes include a state-of-the-art water park and recreation center and attracting a 164-acre multi-use commercial, light industrial, and residential revitalization project.


As assistant city manager, I was responsible for daily operations and worked closely with the city manager and city council while directing department heads, relating to community stakeholders, managing and marketing the city brand, and directing the city’s business retention, expansion, and attraction strategies.


I have a proven record supporting strategic relationships, driving coordination, and collaboration:

  • My experience includes working with a city manager, city council, department heads, community agencies, and other stakeholders to develop programs and policies that create the environment for a vibrant and prosperous community.
  • I have worked with businesses and destination attractions to stimulate sustainable and responsible economic development (and especially with the Bureau of Land Management and National Park Service officials to manage recreational impacts on public land).
  • When establishing the tourism, marketing, and economic development effort for the City of Montrose, I successfully collaborated with residents, the chamber of commerce, local attractions, the Bureau of Land Management, the National Park Service, Fish and Wildlife Service, the Colorado Department of Transportation, Montrose Regional Airport, the Black Canyon Jet Center, Telluride Express, Telluride Tourism Board, and the Colorado Flights Alliance among others.

Temporary Assignments

Occasionally, circumstances require interim leadership and oversight until a new permanent manager or administrator is appointed.
